The first basketball games of the season are in the books. Junior high boys and girls traveled to Lakeland last night to take on the Vikings.
The girls started the evening and played a close game from beginning to the end….which was overtime! Lakeland came out ahead in the 2 minute overtime by a score of Tigers 27 Viking 30.
The boys followed and struggled the first half to score finishing the first half with just two points. While the boys also ended on the losing side, they did come back the second half putting some points on the board.
Both teams will play next Tuesday evening at the Hume tournament. Girls will play at 7:30 and the boys following the girls’ game.
The weather has not cooperated fully this fall when it comes to outside construction with several rain delays on the construction of the dome. The Rich Hill FCCLA chapter sponsored a powder puff football game last night between the 9/10th grade girls and the 11/12th grade girls. The upperclassmen won the coin toss and elected to receive and ran the opening kick back for a touchdown and went on to score two more points for the extra points.
The younger girls struggled to move the ball down the field and we’re still scoreless at halftime when the game was called because of lightning. The final score beings 16-0. But who knows what might of happened in the second half ?!?!
