The Holden Eagles came to town for triple header with the Rich Hill Tigers last night. The evening started out with a freshmen game. The Tigers started out with the youngest group of player working to get more game experience. The game started out slow scoring wise but evenly with a score of 5-4 at the end of the first quarter. The Young Tigers were able to create a little more space by half time leading 14-9 at the half. The third quarter the lead for the Tigers grew to 8 points. The fourth quarter found Holden getting hot at the right time and using the three ball they were able to close the gap and the last minute saw the score tied. The young Tigers were able to maintain their composure and get a much needed basket and free throw and win the game
30-27. Coach Morgan said after the game he was pleased with their play and the fact that all the team got some much needed playing time will only help us get better.
In the second contest of the evening the Junior Varsity played. Using more experience players who also needed playing time to improve the Tigers came out strong and held a 12-10 lead at the end of the first quarter. The second quarter saw a see saw battle of trading buckets the Tigers held a 21-18 lead at the Half. The second half the bench players stepped up to replace some of the starters and held a 33-29 lead. The JV were able to expand their lead with good free throw shooting and timely buckets to win the game 48-37. Coach Morgan said, “we were very pleased with the boys effort tonight and look forward to Friday night when they play Archie at Home.”
The leading scorers in the first game were Wyatt Hammett with 12 points and Jerry Lakey with 9.
In the second game the Tigers were led by Aiden Humble and Austin Pritchett each with 12
