The Rich Hill Tigers have spent a couple of evenings this week in Appleton City playing in their annual invitational tournament. It’s been a good week for the Tigers and both teams will be heading to the championship games on Saturday evening.
The Lady Tigers met up with the Hume Lady Hornets in the semi-final game last night. The teams were seeded 2-3 for the tournament with the Hornets having the higher seed. Both teams came out ready to play and pushed the ball up and down the floor at an up beat tempo. The pace was fast, however the scoring started out slowly with the Lady Tigers missing several close shots early. Hume got on the scoreboard first and the teams traded the lead early with Rich Hill ending the first quarter with a 9-6 lead. Early foul trouble forced both teams to adjust but the Lady Tigers were able to create a few more shot opportunities due to good rebounding and the Tigers lead at the half 20-10. After the half the Tigers settled into a good offensive effort and picked up their defensive attack and started to pull away from the Hornets by the end of the quarter. In the third quarter the Tigers were able to hit 3 treys which helped to build a 37-18 lead. The Tigers were able to maintain a good flow on both ends of the floor and were able to clear the bench at the end of the game. The final score was Rich Hill Lady Tigers 49 the Hume Lady Hornets 21. The leading scorers for the Tigers was Jordann Wheatley with 15, Allie Taylor 13, and Serena Duncan 11. Rich Hill will face the Lady Bulldogs from Appleton City for the Championship on Saturday night at 6:00 pm
