The Rich Lady Tigers completed the week in fine fashion by winning their third championship in a row at the Appleton City Tournament. The Tigers seeded third played the 1st seeded Appleton City Lady Bulldogs. Both teams came out ready to play by pushing the ball up and down the floor at a fast pace. In the early going the Lady Tigers were unable to control their pace and had a large number of turnovers that the Lady Bulldogs were ready to convert. At the end of the first quarter the Bulldogs lead 12-10.
The second quarter started out much the same but with early foul trouble the Tigers were forced to go to the bench and found themselves trailing at the half 22-16. After making some adjustments at the half the Tigers were able to gain some ground by playing better defense and timely shooting and were even at the end of the quarter 27-27. The girls applied more of a pressure defense and held the Lady Bulldogs scoreless in the fourth frame but adding 8 points of their own and pull away to win the game 35-27.
Leading scorers for the Lady Tigers were Allie Taylor with 13, Taylor Brooks with 11 and Jordann Wheatley with 7. The Tiger’s record is now 5-9 and will face their next opponent Friday night at Drexel against the
The RHHS Varsity boys followed with a match against the Montrose Blue Jays for the championship. The boys pulled ahead early and also came home as champions.
