The first game on Tuesday evening against the Eldorado Bulldogs started with a split JV roster. The younger players took to the court against a much larger opponent with the the desire to compete. Out sized the young Tigers gave it their best effort but found themselves trailing 6-19 at the end of the first quarter. In the second quarter the Tigers were able to play better defense but found scoring a challenge and trailed at the half 27-10. After the half the the young Tigers again worked on the defensive end of the court and were able to work hard enough to limit the Bulldogs to just 4 points and scoring 4 points of their own trailed 14-31 to start the fourth quarter. The Bulldogs used their height advantage in the fourth to outscore the Tigers 9-4 and win the game 40-20. The leading scorers in the game for Rich Hill were Dustin Gray, Sabin Bolser and Jerry Lakey all with 4 points.
In the second game of the evening the second group of JV players took to the floor and were much more evenly matched. Playing good defense and having an effective offense the young Tigers held a 15-9 lead after one. The second quarter saw the Tigers extend their lead to 25-17 at the half. The second half opened with the bench players providing strong playing time and by pushing the ball up and down the floor offensively opened a sixteen point lead at the end of the third quarter 38-22. Eldorado in the fourth quarter decided to kick things into high gear and pressure the Tigers to see if they could get back into the game. Using the trey and 10 trips to the foul line the Bulldogs were able to close the gap but the Tigers refused to buckle and were able to hold off the Eldo charge and with timely freethrows of their own win the game 54-47. Leading scorers for the Tigers were Alec Gray with 17, Andin Humble 11, Dalton Smarr 9 and Austin Pritchett with 7. the JV record stands at 5-2 for the season. They next play on Thursday night at Appleton City in another split JV games starting at 5:30. This night will only be JV boys. On Friday night they travel with both Varsity teams to play at Drexel starting at 5:30.
The Varsity boys finished off the evening with a non-conference game against the El Dorado Springs Bulldogs. The Tigers jumped out to an early lead with great defense and excellent ball movement on offense. The score at the end of the 1st quarter was 21-10 Rich Hill. The second quarter saw the Bulldogs make a run at the Tigers but the Tigers responded with some offense of their own to take a 39-25 half time lead. The Tigers extended their lead in both the 3rd and 4th quarters of the game to win by a score of 82-61. The win moves the Tigers to 13-2 on the season. Their next game is Friday night at Drexel.
