Lady Tigers Defeat the Butler Bears

The Lady Tigers traveled to Archie for the Consolation round on Wednesday night against the Lady Bears from Butler. The Tigers showed some early signs of fatigue after playing such a hard fought game on the previous night but were able to put that aside and go basket for basket in the first quarter trailing 15-16 at the end of one. In the second quarter the Tigers worked on cutting down their turnovers and blocking out on rebounds and were able to pull even at the half 31-31. The third quarter was another tightly contested battle from both sides with Butler taking a one point advantage to lead 44-43. The Bears were able to open up a four point lead in the quarter but the Lady Tigers never buckled but kept fighting back and towards the end of the quarter were able to pull even. Slowing the offense down and getting set plays the Lady Tigers were able to score and then play strong enough defense to get a six point lead and win the contest 56-50.
The Lady Tigers will next play on Friday at 7:30 against the Holden Eagles for the consolation trophy. Looking down the road for next week the Lady Tigers will have games on Monday night at home against the Prairie View Vikings. Tuesday night they travel to Bronaugh and return home Friday against the Midway Vikings.
The Leading scorers for last nights game were Allie Taylor 17, Jordann Wheatley 15, Jennifer Doty 10 and Taylor Brooks with 9
