A group of RHHS Seniors have come together to plan one last project at RHHS before their May 8th graduation. Madison Wheatley, Michaela Norbury, Hayley Klinksick, Jacob Thompson and Jordann Wheatley are organizing a 5K walk/run to raise money to donate towards the completion of the safe room / dome. Madison Wheatley says that Michael Mcewan who works for the Osage Prairie YMCA in Nevada suggested a 5K walk/run as a fundraiser and she decided to work with a few classmates to organize the event which is being called “Run for Cover”. These seniors say that they know that they have many good memories of their years in the Rich Hill Schools and are hopeful that this project will help to complete a project that will be part of the memories of future graduates.
The race is going to be held on Sunday, May 3rd with registration starting at 1:00 pm and the walk / run beginning at 1:30 pm. There will also be a shorter “Fun Run” as an option for students 12 and under that will begin shortly after the 5K . The plan is for the race to begin and end at the “Dome”.
Entry forms are available in several locations. They have been sent home with elementary students, are available at Security Bank and Foodfair, are linked to this page, and on the “Run for Cover” Facebook page. Participants entering the 5k run/walk will receive a black t-shirt featuring artwork done by Jacob Thompson. The deadline to enter in time to receive a t-shirt is April 27th.
These students will be asking for businesses to help them to sponsor this event. Businesses making a donation will be featured on the back of the t-shirts.
Please make plans to help these students by participating in the run or as a sponsor as they give back to their school.
