The Rich Hill High School class of 2015 gathered one last time Friday evening for commencement exercises. Thirty-three members received diplomas with Michaela Norbury receiving top honors as valedictorian and Jordann Wheatley in the salutatorian position.
The gym was filled with family and friends who came to watch the event. Parents were introduced as the graduates marched into the gym as the band played “Pomp and Circumstance”.
Jordann Wheatley started the evening with her Salutatorian Address in which she compared some of the challenges in life to the physics behind the sport of pole vaulting.
Jordann was followed by music provided by Katelyn Arnold and Hannah Bosch and the senior choir members.
Michaela Norbury followed with her Valedictorian Address. Michaela encouraged the class to follow their dreams.
Mrs. Jennifer Wheatley provided the commencement address to the theme of country music. She used the lyrics from a variety of songs to provide a few guidelines for life after high school The crowd then had the opportunity to view the “Class of 2015’s Senior Video” and then it was finally time for the big moment.
Mr. Rotert presented each graduate as they received their diplomas. Most were presented their diploma by school board president Sam Hardin with some receiving their diplomas from family and/or friends who had also served on the Rich Hill Board of Education.
The class formed a receiving line in front of the high school after the ceremony to greet friends and family.
