Thursday evening was a busy night for Tiger fans. The FFA Boosters hosted a chili supper, project prom parents were selling candy, Tiger fans were dressed in their Christmas gear for Silent Night, and of course there was a whole lot of basketball being played.
JV Girls started the evening with a win and were followed by the junior varsity boys. Both teams played one half of basketball. The girls pulled off a win but the boys fell short.
The Varsity Lady Tigers finished the first semester schedule with a game with the Lady Wildcats of Greenfield. After a frustrating lost to Butler earlier in the week the Tigers came ready to play. In the first quarter the Lady Tigers put on a hard press causing several turnover and converting them into scoring opportunities and at the end of one is was Rich Hill 13-3. Second quarter the pressure remained constant and at half it was The Lady Tigers 27-11. The defense was good and the offense came to life and in the third quarter the Tigers pushed the lead to 39-15. The fourth quarter the Tigers used their bench and ended the game 52-34. The game never really had a flow to it due to a large amount of fouls and there was a total of a combined 61 free throws shot during the game. Leading scorers for Rich Hill was Allie Taylor with 16 and Taylor Coonce with 10. Allie also lead the team with 10 rebounds. The next game for the Tigers will be Dec. 29 in Sedalia against Cole Camp.
The Varsity boys extended their winning streak to 8 games with a 71-52 win over the Greenfield Wildcats. The Tigers started off quick in the first quarter and ran to a 20-12 lead over the Wildcats. Foul trouble and numerous turnovers slowed the Tigers down in the second quarter but the Tigers were still able to extend their lead by 3 more points during the quarter. The score at the half was Rich Hill 35 Greenfield 24. The Tigers came out hot in the 3rd quarter putting up 27 points and extending their lead to 30. Greenfield was able to cut into the lead during the fourth quarter but it wasn’t enough as the Tigers won the game 71-52. The Varsity Tigers will play in the WK Shootout at State Fair Community College on December 29th at 7:30 P.M.
