Dome Initiated With a Win

The Rich Hill Varsity basketball teams played their first games in the dome last night against K.C. Lutheran.

With much anticipation the girls took the floor for the inaugural game of the new dome. After a nice win over Cole Camp over the Christmas break the Lady TIgers had worked on several aspects of their game and were ready for the new year. The first quarter saw both teams come out ready to play. The Lady Tigers pushed the ball up and down the court leading to several lay ups and used their hard press to force turnovers by KC and led after one 20-12. The Lutheran team used the long trey to keep close with Rich Hill and out scored the Tigers in the second quarter 8-7 but still found them trailing 27-20 at the half. At half time the girls from Rich Hill had several starters in foul trouble so made some adjustments to counter those problems. The second half the Lady Tigers came out with better play and less turnovers to increase the lead by 3  to lead 39-29 at the end of 3. The fourth quarter saw the Tigers turn the corner with better defense and the offense caught fire and pulled away the bench seeing playing time at the end of the game and girls winning 55-31.

Leading scorers for the LadyTigers were Allie Taylor with 19, Taylor Coonce with 15, Robin Schapeler 8, Taylor Brooks with 6, Jen Doty 5,Serena Duncan 2. Leading rebounders were Allie Taylor with 11, Taylor Brooks 8, Robin Schapeler 7. The girls play next on Friday night for their first conference game at Archie.

The Rich Hill boys improved their season record to 10-0 with a blowout win over the Lutheran Knights. The scoring started early and often for the Tigers as they jumped out to a quick 12-0 lead. The Tiger’s full court defensive pressure forced the Knights into numerous turnovers in the first half. At the end of the first quarter the Tigers lead 18-6. During the second quarter the Tigers continued their dominance and extended their lead to 46-11 at the half. The second half of the game was all Tigers as they continued to play well on both ends of the floor. The final score of the game was Rich Hill 78 Lutheran 24.
