Varsity Boys Take Championship in Archie Tournament

The Varsity Boys captured the championship of the Archie Tournament with a 70-62 victory over the Metro Academy Mavericks on Saturday night. The Tigers were outmatched on size, but made up for it with aggressive defense in the full court. Both teams started slowly on the offensive end, after the first quarter the Tigers held a slim 8-6 lead. In the second quarter both teams were able to get on track offensively with the Tigers scoring 20 points compared to 16 from Metro. After the half the Tigers were able to add to their lead with a strong 3rd quarter. The Tigers captured the victory in the fourth quarter by converting on 15 of 20 free throw attempts along with great play from their bench.

The Tigers next game will be Tuesday night at El Dorado Springs. This is a makeup game for Jan. 19th snow out.
