The varsity and JV girls took on the Lady Wildcats from Bronaugh in a twin bill last night in the Dome.
In the first game of the evening the JV girls got off to a slow start due to such a long lay off from competition. Their last game was in mid December against Greenfield. In the first quarter the girl’s offense never really got going but were able to hold their opponents down also and after one the score was Rich HIll 5 Bronaugh 7. In the second quarter the Wildcats were able to hit from long range and seal their victory at Bronaugh 23 Rich Hill 13. Leading scorers for the Lady Tigers were Delta Johnson 5, Kassi Austin 4, Kylann Tourtillot 3 and Kearston Baze 1.
In the second contest of the evening the Varsity girls came out strong against a much taller Bronaugh team. The defense turned up the pressure causing many turnovers and creating many scoring opportunities for Lady Tigers and after one the girls led 18-9. In the second quarter play got sloppy for both teams and there was never any real flow to the game and the Wildcats were able to close the gap to just six at half time. The second half started with the Tigers making several adjustments and getting back to playing better defense and extending their lead to 43-31 at the end of three. The Tigers kept extending their lead but the Wildcat refused to break and made several runs but the Tigers would never give in and were able to win the game 61-44.
Leading scorers for the Lady Tigers were Taylor Coonce 23, Allie Taylor 20, Serena Duncan 7,Robin Schapeler 5, Taylor Brooks 5 and Jen Doty with 2. Leading Rebounders were Taylor Brooks with 8, Robin Schapeler and Allie Taylor with 6 each and Taylor Coonce with 5. Next game for the Lady Tigers will beFriday night at Midway. The Lady Tigers record now stands at 15-5.
