The JV boys beat the Appleton City Bulldogs last night by a score of 31-28. The Tigers started off slow and didn’t score a point for the first 4 minutes of the game. However, the Tigers finished the quarter strong to only trail 8-7 after the first quarter. The second quarter was also a struggle as the Tigers at one point by as many as 10. However, a scoring run before the half cut the deficit to only 4 points at the half. In the second half the Tigers improved both offensively and defensively to eventually take their first lead with only 1 minute left in the game. Made free throws helped the Tigers hold off the Bulldogs for a 31-28 win.
The Lady Tigers faced the Appleton City Bulldogs in a WEMO conference game on Tuesday night in the Dome. The Lady Tigers came out strong offensively and were able to run out to an early first quarter lead 20-8. In the second quarter the offensive display continued with several players getting into the scorebook and at half time it was RIch HIll 42-15. The second half foul trouble which has plague the Ladys the last few games rose it’s ugly head but the bench came in to fill in very nicely and with a large lead the defense got sloppy but after three the Tigers still led 51-27. The fourth quarter the bench played freely and the final score was Rich Hill 68 Appleton City 40. The win placed the girls with a conference record of 3-1 and an overall record of 16-6. On Wednesday the district seeding meeting will take place in Butler to determine their first round District opponent a week from next Monday. District will be held in the Dome.
