Tuesday, September 20, 2016 at Lakeland
On Tuesday, September 20th, the Lady Tigers traveled to Lakeland High School to play. Junior High took the floor for their second game of the season. They won both sets for an overall victory (25-23 and 25-19).
Junior Varsity followed after. They started out a little slow, losing the first set 20-25, but they soon gained momentum to win next two set (25-18 and 25-23) to end the night with a victory.
The Varsity stepped on the floor ready to play their game. They came out with a lot of intensity and drive to win the first set 25-12. As the second set began, the Tigers began to lose some of their momentum and allowed Lakeland to win the second set (31-29). In the third set, the Tigers bounced back and defeated the Vikings 25-18. Kinady Fischer led the Tigers with 11 Ace Serves during the night. Kylann Tourtillott led the team with 7 kills and Serena Duncan led the team with the highest passing percentage.
Thursday, September 29, 2016 at Drexel
On Thursday, September 29th, Rich Hill traveled to Drexel. The Junior High Tigers started the night out with a solid 25-12 win over the Lady Cats. Unfortunately after such a great victory, they lost their momentum and fell to the Cats the remaining two sets (15-25 and 16-25). Even with the loss, the Lady Tigers played well and never gave up!
The JV girls took to the court next. They came out ready to play and defeated Drexel 25-21. The Tigers kept the excitement going as they continued to a victory in the second set as well (25-21). Krissy Miller led the team with 5 Ace Serves. Mackenzie Wheatley had some great passes and led the team with the highest passing percentage. Brittany Mitchell had the only kill on the night.
The Varsity Tigers came out with some intensity and determination. Although they lost the first set 20-25, the Lady Tigers were not done for the night. They went on to play a great game and defeat the Lady Cats in the second set 25-18. Unfortunately, they were unable to keep the momentum going and fell to the Cats in the third set (11-25) allowing Drexel to end the night in victory. Kinady Fischer led the team with 3 Ace Serves. Peyton Walton had the highest passing percentage for the team and Allie Schmitt ended the night with 11 great digs! Allie Schmitt and Serena Duncan ended the night with 4 kills a piece.
Saturday, September 24, 2016 at Jasper Tournament
The Varsity Tigers headed to Jasper for an all day tournament on Saturday, September 24th. The first game of the day featured the Rich Hill Tigers against Golden City. Even though they played well, the Tigers just could not seem to get things to work together just right and they fell in two sets to the Golden City Eagles (11-25 and 16-25). Jozelynn West had some good serves including one really great ace serve. Serena Duncan had the highest passing percentage. Serena Duncan also ended the game with 3 solo blocks.
The next game of the day was against Thomas Jefferson. The Tigers played well and fought to the end of the first set, but fell just short of victory (21-25). The Tigers fought back and secured the first win of the day in the second set (25-20). Kinady Fischer led the team with 3 Ace Serves. Serena Duncan led the team with the highest passing percentage. Kinady Fischer also led the team with 3 kills in the game.
These games placed the Tigers against the Jasper Eagles in the first round of bracket play. The Tigers played well, but it wasn’t enough to keep the Eagles from victory. The Tigers ended their tournament play with a loss in two sets to Jasper (14-25 and 6-25). The Lady Tigers had some good serves, but Katie Malone had the only Ace of the game. Serena Duncan had the highest passing percentage for the team. Allie Schmitt ended the game with 4 great digs. Jozelynn West and Serena Duncan both had 2 kills a piece.
Play continues tomorrow evening in Appleton City with JH / JV / and Varsity games.
