Girls’ Basketball at Holden

The Lady Tigers played a girls double header last night against the Lady Holden Eagles. In the first game of the evening the JV Tigers came out a little flat and allowed the Eagles to take an early lead but with some three point shooting from Delta Johnson the Tigers closed the gap to 8-9 after one quarter. The second quarter saw Holden extend it’s lead and at the half the Eagles lead 25-12. The defense stiffened up in the third quarter and held the Eagles to just one point and the score was 16-26 at the end of three. The offense let down and Eagles were able to win the game 35-19. The JV next plays tonight in Liberal.

In the second game of the evening the Varsity Lady Tigers came out determine to improve on their pass performances. The offense kicked things into gear and with good ball movement were able to accumulate 16 points and lead 16-7 after one. The defense kept making adjustments and were able to hold Holden to just 15 points in the first half and repeated the offensive output to lead 32-15 at the half. In the third quarter the offense slowed down a bit and the defense let up a little and Holden closed the gap to 28-41. Foul trouble allowed the bench some extra playing time and in the end the bench finished the game with the Lady Tigers winning 55-28. The game was a complete team effort. The Lady Tigers will travel tonight to Liberal in All Team night. The Varsity Girls will play in the main gym at 6 with the JV boys playing at the same time in the Aux. gym then the JV girls and move to the Aux. gym while the Varsity boys play in the main gym.
