This past weekend students from the 6th grade and junior high gathered to put on a performance of “What Happened After Once Upon a Time”. The students started practicing back in January and all of their hard work showed when they took the stage on Friday evening and again when they returned for a matinee performance on Saturday afternoon.
The story features a substitute storyteller who was played by Maralyn Cowin. The storyteller tries repeatedly to get through the retelling of a variety of fairly tales only to be met with a problem after problem. Finally when she is about to throw in the towel, the characters come back to reassure her that she is doing a great job and what comes after “once upon a time” is, of course, the fact that “they all lived happily ever after”.
Mr. Doug Abend was the director, Mrs. Jennifer Wheatley was the assistant director. and Mrs. Allison Bell contributed much help in the “art” department. During the rehearsal process students were give the opportunity to practice a variety of warm-up exercises. Not only did they practice good acting skills, but they also learned how to take care of and properly use their voice.
