Mrs. Margie Campbell had engineers from 3M visiting in her classroom last week. The importance of taking the appropriate coursework in high school to prepare for the engineering field was one of the topics of conversation. These professionals also shared information about educational requirements in the university setting and of course job opportunities.
One other topic discussed was the disparity in gender in the field of engineering at this time. Females are very much outnumbered by males in the field.
Students also had the opportunity to participate in a building challenge. Groups created a parachute that would carry 20 ml of water. One group’s creation made the drop without losing any water!
