Last night the Rich Hill Lady Tigers traveled to Osceola for the Semi-finals in the district volleyball tournament. The Lady Tigers were coming off a hard fought three set win over the Lady Vikings from Lakeland on Monday night. In the semi finals the Tigers faced the Lady Bulldogs who were seeded number 2 for the tournament. The first set started off fast and furious with both teams determined to win. The Lady Tigers were trying to avenge an early loss this season to Appleton City. The game would continue to go back and forth with neither team giving any breathing room to the other. The final score was Rich Hill Lady Tigers 25 Appleton City 23. In the second set Rich Hill wanted to end it here and Appleton City knew a loss would send them home so the game was intense from the first serve. Appleton City took a early lead but the Lady Tigers refused to fold and fought back to keep it even. An injury forced the Tigers to go to the bench but the girls kept right on going. The team rallied together and the bench contributed a couple of phenomenal plays to win in two sets to advance to the championship game.
After a thirty minute break the Lady Tigers faced the Osceola Lady Indians for the right to go to the sectionals on Saturday. To defeat the Lady Indians would be a tall order but Rich Hill was willing to give it their best shot. The first set saw the Lady Tigers get down early and never seemed to quite recover and Osceola took the first game to led 1-0. In the second set the Lady Tigers came to life and gave it their best but eventually fell to the Lady Indians 25-20. Despite the disappointing loss being the runner up is something to be proud of for our Lady Tigers volleyball team. After the game the coaches met to vote on the all district team and the Tigers were well represented.
