Basketball is on the road in Lone Jack tonight. Here are the reports from last Friday’s night match with Lockwood and Monday night’s game against the Hume Hornets.
The JV Boys started off the Friday night trip to Lockwood with contest with Lockwood JV Tigers. The boys were coming off a loss that wasn’t very pretty determined to improve and up their game. In the first quarter the young Tigers traded baskets and found themselves down 10-15 after one. In the second quarter the boys kept plugging away matching their first quarter output of 10 points and trialed at the half 20-27. The third quarter the RH Tigers offense fell off and could only manage 5 points and were trailing 25-42. The RH JV offense came to life in the fourth quarter scoring 22 points but fell just short of a victory 55-47. Team played much better at times and improved in many areas and hoping to put it all together in their next game. Scoring for the JV was Bryce Lewis with 16 points follow Sage Bolser with 6 then three players with 5 each , Taron Mumma, Clifton Bridgewater, and Lane Brown. Nate Kithcaft had two and Bryce Yohe had one.
The Rich Hill varsity boys traveled to Hume last night to continue an age old rivalry. The game started out on a trey by Rich Hill to open the scoring and followed by a open 3 by Hume. after that RIch Hill went on a 28-0 run and ended the half leading 51-7. In the second half Rich Hill’s bench saw the majority of playing time and did a good job of running their offense and played defensively well. The final score was Rich Hill 70 Hume 12. Sometimes in a game like this what gets lost is the the determination of the losing team. Hume is to be commended for there effort that isn’t seen on the scoreboard. Rich Hill had ten players in the scoring column. The Tigers move their record to 5-2 on the season and play next on Wednesday night at Lone Jack starting with a JV Boys game at 5 PM.
The junior high basketball season is coming to an end. The WEMO Conference Tournament begins this weekend for the Rich Hill Girl’s Team. Good Luck Tigers!
