After a long break from the hardwood floor the Rich Hill Tigers opened the second half of their season in the opening round of the Appleton City Tournament. The Tigers were given the number one seed and were to face the Hume Hornets for a second time this season but due to a team having to drop out of the tournament at the last minute the Tigers faced the Appleton City JV. The Tigers came out with a game plan of playing discipline basketball and working on the basics. In the first quarter the Tigers worked on setting their offenses and getting the best shot possible and at the end of the quarter the Tigers lead 17-3. In the second quarter Coach Moles started to rotate his bench more and to work on strong team defense and at the half is was Rich Hill 32 Appleton City JV 10.
At the start of the second half the boys got into a more pressured rhythm on defense and turned several turnovers into quick points and found themselves leading 53-17 after three. The final quarter the Tigers rotated the bench freely. The final score was Rich Hill 55 Appleton City JV 24.
The Tigers commend their opponents on playing on such short notice and playing well. The Tigers will play their next game on Thursday night at 9PM against either Montrose or Miami in the semi-finals.
The girls will play the preceding game at 7:30 on Thursday. The Tigers had two players in double figures with a total eight players scoring in the game. Their record improves to 8-2 on the season.
