The Rich Hill Tigers took to the hardwood last night for their third game in four days with the opponent being the Archie Whirlwind. In the first quarter the boys came out a little flat and saw the Whirlwinds ready to play. After the first quarter the Tigers trailed 9-13. In the second quarter the boys were able to play even for the quarter but still were not playing up to their potential and found themselves trail by a score of 22-26 at the half.
After making some adjustments at halftime the boys came out strong offensively and were able to pull out to a twelve point lead only to watch most of that evaporate as Archie pulled within four at the quarter with Rich Hill leading 41-37 after three. In the fourth quarter both teams made runs but in the end good free throw shooting by the Tigers was the difference with Rich Hill hitting 13/17 from the charity stripe. The final score was Rich Hill Tigers 57 Archie Whirlwinds 50. The Tigers showed a balanced scoring attack lead by Kolby Steuck and Dalton Smarr both with 13, Alec Gray 10, and Sabin Bolser and Jerry Lakey both with 8. Taran Mumma also contributed 5 in the winning effort.
The Tigers record for the season moved to 14-6. They will play their final game of a long week tonight against the Drexel Bobcats starting with a half JVB game starting at 5:30 followed by the VG and the VB. After tonight the next game will be for the JVG and JVB at Jayhawk-Linn in Mound City Monday night starting at 4:30. The Tigers then will be off until next Friday night at Osceola.
